Nachdem ich etwas angenervt war, das in einem Artikel der aktuellen Federwelt die Privatkopie und gewerbsmässiges Kopieren munter in einen Topf geworfen wurde und DRM generell nicht nur von der Verwertungsindustrie sondern auch von Künstlern oder Contentproduzenten als das gelobte Land gesehen wird, zeigt Cory Doctorow dass er seine Leser und deren Bedürfnisse verstanden hat:




Here’s the deal: I don’t believe that there’s any market-demand for teasers or for “Digital Rights Management” technology: none of you woke up this morning and said, “Damn, I wish there was a way I could get less of the books I enjoy and a way I could do less with them once I have them.”

  1. Doctorow ist schon lange ein Proponent von CC. Zwei seiner Bücher liegen auch auf Deutsch als CC-Lizenz vor, die DL-Links findet man direkt im deutschsprachigen Wikipedia-Artikel zu Doctorow. Er zeigt sehr schön dass kostenloses Weggeben keineswegs bedeuten muss dass die Leute ein Werk nicht mehr gebunden kaufen. Eastern Standard Tribe gibts bei Podiobooks zusätzlich als vom Autor gesprochenes Hörbuch, das ich gerade auf den Player gezogen habe - ich werde berichten.

  2. EST halte ich für das schwächste von Corys Büchern, aber... Little Brother liegt ebenfalls als CC Lizenz vor:

    Und das war für mich DAS Buch 2008, was man unbedingt gelesen haben sollte.
