Beinahe 24 Stunden nachdem Flickr begonnen hatte Benutzer aus Deutschland, Singapur, Korea und Hong Kong zu zensieren, war es nicht möglich auch nur die geringste Information oder nur Reaktion vom Flickr Staff zu erhalten.

Inzwischen gibt es die ersten Reaktionen, die nichtssagender und beschwichtigender nicht sein könnten.

Stewart says:

We really apologize for the delay in responding to these threads. The whole Flickr team has been in ongoing discussions, trying to hammer out a solution.

We have absolutely no intention of censoring the content on the community's behalf. It is always been our intention that Flickr members participate to whatever extent they want and are as free as possible create their own experience. Currently, switching the SafeSearch function off is not available for German members. It is a really complex situation -- we have been in deliberation on this for a while, and we had to make the decision whether or not to leave Germany and the German language out of the international launch.

The decision came down to the wire, but we decided to include Germany. We're still hoping that that was the right decision. It definitely was not a decision that was made lightly and there is no intention to annoy, frustrate or inconvenience Flickr members in Germany. Rest assured, we do hear you loud and clearly (painfully loud, even) and are doing our best. We hope to have more to say soon.

Aha? Weil ihr auf Deutsch übersetzt dürfen die Deutschen nun keinen 'restricted'-Content mehr sehen? Der schlappe Versuch Zensur runterzuspielen und als Nachteil eines Features zu verkaufen. It's not censoship it's a feature.. oder so.

Und wie konnte man auch nur annehmen das ein derartiges Vorgehen einfach geschluckt wird? Wir erinnern uns: Keine Information der betroffenen Benutzer, nicht mal der zahlenden. Wir dürfen nur noch hinten im Bus sitzen.. aber erfahren nicht wieso.

Da bringt man auch kein großes Verständnis für derartige Aussagen auf:

'Better'. Es gibt keine böse und keine gute Zensur. Die einzige Möglichkeit da etwas zu retten wäre den Scheiß rückgängig zu machen.

Can you at least promise to publish a detailed explanation, timeline etc. once all of this is sorted out?

I don't want to promise something that I may not be able to deliver, but I think that we (Flickr) have a pretty good record of communicating and working through issues with our members. This (can I say "adventure" without sound too glib?) issue won't be any different. We'll share more info when it's available. It's quite complex and might take longer than other hurdles we've jumped over together in the past.

Über 24 Stunden Zensur und Flickr ist immer noch nicht in der Lage auch nur zu sagen warum. Diese Gedanken hätte man sich wirklich vorher machen müssen statt sich selbst und die Lokalisierung überschwenglich zu feiern. Denn so wie es im Moment aussieht, hat Flickr nicht mehr lange was zu feiern.

Immer mehr Benutzer denken darüber nach sich das Geld für ihre Pro Accounts zurückerstatten zu lassen und die ersten beginnen auch damit ihre Bilder von Flickr abzuziehen und anderswo unterzubringen. Mit jeder Stunde der Nicht-Reaktion durch Flickr denken mehr User über diese Maßnahmen nach, selbst wenn sie nicht direkt betroffen sind oder indirekt weil sie zu denjenigen gehören deren Bilder ausgegraut werden.

Mein Fazit lautet: Flickr hat sein Gesicht und seinen Reiz verloren. Ersatzvorschläge, jemand? Nein, bitte nicht Fotocommunity und Zooomr ist leider nur wenig benutzbar.
